Mat is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind.

Here's exactly what happens with your data:

Photos. Mat uses the iOS photo picker so you can choose photos to turn into cutouts. It only ever receives the photos you explicitly pick — never your whole library — and discards their metadata (including location and capture date).

Camera. Live cutouts are processed entirely on your device. Camera frames are never uploaded or stored anywhere except the cutouts you choose to keep.

Saving. When you export a mat, Mat requests add-only access to your photo library. It can add images — it cannot read them.

On-device AI. Optional share-card captions and auto-decoration run entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence and are never uploaded.

Storage & sync. Your mats and cutouts are stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We (the developers) have no access to them.

Collective mats. If you invite friends to a mat, its contents sync through iCloud (CloudKit) so everyone on it can edit. Only the people you invite can see it — we cannot.

Purchases (Mat Pro). Mat Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple. To validate purchases and restore them across your devices, Mat uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives purchase information (such as your purchase history) tied to an anonymous, randomly generated ID — never your name, email, or Apple ID. This data is used solely to make your purchase work and is not used for advertising or tracking. For refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

What we never collect: your name, email, contacts, location, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or the contents of your mats.

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings.
